Our Purpose

Chrysalis is is a three-day spiritual renewal retreat that provides participants an opportunity to learn more about the faith, to experience Christian love and support, and a chance to make new commitments in their faith journey. The content of the three days focuses on God's grace, how one experiences Christ as friend in the body of Christ, and how one is called into discipleship, giving love to a needful world. The main focus of a Chrysalis Flight is to empower youth to strengthen their walk with Christ, and to strengthen their abilities to be effective leaders within their church, school, and family

Chrysalis is the youth/young adult version of The Walk To Emmaus, and both groups work closely under the direction of The Upper Room. Chrysalis is the name chosen for the Youth Walk to Emmaus because it symbolizes faith growth in the lives of high school aged young adults - the spiritual growth that is necessary between adolescence and adulthood. It is a crucial time of maturing faith for discipleship.

The central image of a Chrysalis Flight is the butterfly. This ancient symbol of Christ's death and resurrection is used as a symbol to represent the change that takes place in the lives of the caterpillars throughout the weekend as they strengthen their relationship with Christ.

Chrysalis is NOT a church, and is not meant to replace the home church of anyone involved with Chrysalis. However, accountability and fellowship are encouraged throughout the Flight of Hope Chrysalis Community.

That is the purpose of Chrysalis within our Chrysalis community. To see what Chrysalis is about on a local, national, and global level, and to see what it means to millions around the world, please check out The Upper Room, the organization that sponsors Chrysalis.
